[00:00:48] Taty Fittipaldi: We’ll share a lesson on fostering deeper connections and how you can apply them on your own lives for future collaborations. Thank you for joining [00:01:00] us and happy holidays.

[00:01:01] NARRATOR’S NOTE: Hello and welcome to the Leadership Nest Podcast. The podcast that nests stories, knowledge, and science to soar the leadership in you. I’m your host, Taty Fittipaldi. As always, our podcast will be divided into three phases. A story, a lesson, and its application. This way, you can have structure and information while also having some fun.

[00:01:42] NARRATOR’S NOTE: This program is brought to you by… Coaching Expatriates.

[00:01:45] TODAY’S STORY

[00:01:45] TODAY’S STORY: Today’s story. . .

[00:01:55] Taty Fittipaldi: Once upon a snowy Christmas Eve in the cozy town of Harmonyville, [00:02:00] there lived three very different individuals. Emma, a talented artist. Max, a brilliant inventor. And Lily, a compassionate baker. Each one of them had their unique talents but they were all lonely and felt something was missing in their lives. Emma had a beautiful gallery where she displayed her paintings. But she longed for the joy of sharing her art with the others.

[00:02:26] Taty Fittipaldi: Max had an incredible workshop filled with amazing gadgets, but he wished for someone to appreciate his inventions. Lily baked delicious treats every day but she wished she had friends to share them with.

[00:02:43] Taty Fittipaldi: One crisp December morning, the three of them received a mysterious invitation to the town square.

[00:02:50] Taty Fittipaldi: Curious, they bundled up and headed there. When they arrived, they saw a large tangled mess of colorful lights and ornaments.[00:03:00] It was the town’s annual Christmas tree. But it was far from its usual glory. The towns people gathered around looking puzzled. The mayor explained. We’re missing our traditional tree decorator this year and the tree is a mess. We don’t have much time before the Christmas Eve celebration tonight.

[00:03:27] Taty Fittipaldi: Emma, Max, and Lily exchanged glances. They realized that their unique talents could come together to save the day. Emma could use her artistic eye to arrange the ornaments in a beautiful pattern. Max could invent a clever contraption to untangle the lights. And Lily could make delicious snacks to keep everyone energized.

[00:03:59] Taty Fittipaldi: They [00:04:00] got to work immediately. And it didn’t take long for the magic of collaboration to become evident. Emma carefully placed the ornaments, creating a stunning design that sparkled in the sunlight. Max’s invention, a handy robotic arm, untangled the lights, swiftly and efficiently. Lily’s warm smile and tasty treats kept everyone’s spirits high.

[00:04:26] Taty Fittipaldi: As they work together, they shared stories and laughter getting to know each other better. Emma appreciated Max’s cleverness! Max admired Lily’s warmth. And Lily was amazed by Emma’s creativity. They discovered that they complemented each other perfectly.

[00:04:49] Taty Fittipaldi: By the time the sun set, the Christmas tree was a masterpiece and the townspeople cheered in delight. Emma, Max, and Lily [00:05:00] had not only saved the Christmas, but had found the missing pieces of their own lives.

[00:05:09] Taty Fittipaldi: The Christmas Eve celebration was a tremendous success and the three new found friends where the guests of honor. They had learned that by combining their different talents and working together, they had not only created something beautiful for the town, but had also filled that their hearts with happiness.

[00:05:32] Taty Fittipaldi: From that day forward, Max, Emma, and Lily continued to collaborate, bringing their talents together to brighten up not only their lives, but the lives of everyone in Harmonyville.

[00:05:44] Taty Fittipaldi: They learned that sometimes the most wonderful things happen when different people come together. And that true happiness is found in the bonds of relationship and collaboration. And so, in [00:06:00] the town of Harmonyville, every Christmas was a reminder of the importance of working together with different people to create happier and more fulfilling lives.

[00:06:20] TODAY’S LESSON

[00:06:20] TODAY’S LESSON: Today’s lesson.

[00:06:29] Taty Fittipaldi: Our story begins in the enchanting town of Harmonyville, where three very different individuals, Emma, the artist, Max, the inventor, and Lily, the baker discovered the transformative power of collaboration. They learned that by combining their unique talents, they not only saved Christmas, but also filled their hearts with happiness.

[00:06:52] Taty Fittipaldi: This charming tale, beautifully illustrates a key lesson that transcends the holiday season. A [00:07:00] lesson that we can all apply in our personal and professional lives. It’s the lesson of the profound impact collaboration with diverse people can have on our happiness and the success of our endeavors.

[00:07:13] Taty Fittipaldi: Collaboration is not just about working with each other. Collaboration is about helping each other create and produce something. Every time you help the elderly cross the street, you’re a collaborating. Helping the neighbor take the garbage out, sharing stories around a campfire. Producing a safe and happy environment, like in our story today, is an act of collaboration.

[00:07:39] Taty Fittipaldi: Humans are social beings, and we collaborate because we need each other to leave in harmony and make progress in life. Collaboration in the past, when we lived in caves, ment survival. Now, collaboration has a whole different meaning on top of survival. It also involves happiness and [00:08:00] meaningfulness in our lives.

[00:08:01] Taty Fittipaldi: During this holiday season, I invite you to think about the people around you who have diverse backgrounds, experiences, talents, language, cultures, or expertise. No matter which diversity dimension you pick, select five people you’d like to collaborate with more in the next year and start coming up with ways to connect with these five people on a deeper level.

[00:08:26] TODAY’S TIPS TO APPLY WHAT YOU LEARNED

[00:08:26] TODAY’S TIPS TO APPLY WHAT YOU LEARNED: Today’s tips to apply what you learned.

[00:08:36] Taty Fittipaldi: So, how can we apply in our lives some of the things we learned from Emma, Max and Lily’s heartwarming experience. Here is one holiday break idea for you.

[00:08:47] Taty Fittipaldi: Write an appreciation note for each of the five people you selected. You thought it was joking and didn’t select anyone. [00:09:00] Oh, well that’s okay. Then let’s do it together, now! Select three to five people in your work environment. Here’s a criteria idea for your selection. It has to be someone from a different department. It has to be someone you might need in future collaborations and projects, or that might be willing to teach you something you lack. And, finally, it must be someone you are genuinely interested in learning more about. . I will give you some time to think.

[00:09:34] Taty Fittipaldi: with your top three or five selected, write an appreciation note for each of the people you selected.

[00:09:47] Taty Fittipaldi: Do it in your own handwriting and decorate it as if you were back in school. Use some stickers and colors to make it more personable and relatable. If they [00:10:00] work in the same office, leave it on their desk at the end of the day. If they work in another location or a country mail your note to them.

[00:10:09] Taty Fittipaldi: Here’s what you will put in your appreciation letter. Tell them one thing you appreciate about them. And one thing you would like to know more about them. Then, let them know that this year you selected them as a person to deepen friendship with and let them know a way to start doing that.

[00:10:28] Taty Fittipaldi: How about a warmup? Here is my appreciation note to you, my dearest listener. That can also serve as an example to help you write yours.

[00:10:45] Taty Fittipaldi: Dear listener. I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for [00:11:00] having you in my life. First, I went to tell you how much I admire your kindness.
